Network of Researchers on Valuation and Evaluation (Nerve) brings together scholars interested in the assessment of individuals by experts and public authorities. Our shared interest lies in the way knowledge, power and values intersect in the assessment procedures. Our research interests include, for example, the credibility assessment of asylum seekers claiming to have converted from one religion to another and asylum seekers who claim to be at risk of persecution due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. While the bulk of our research focuses on the evaluation of individuals in connection with the asylum process, we also invite scholars who study the assessment of people’s convictions, emotions and psychological traits in other contexts from a critical perspective.
